Gone downhill — Free version now only shows a only a limited amount of stories 👎🏼

  • Apple News1star· Sep 12, 2026

Free version is garbage — Terrible article selection and more than half of what it shows is just paywalled adverts telling you to buy the Plus subscription.

  • Ground News2star· Sep 9, 2026

Not too useful — Expensive and doesn’t really accomplish anything. Anyone with average critical thinking skills or better doesn’t need this app at all. You still can’t read paywalled articles so the app is pointless if you have basic reading comprehension.

App freezes — Last couple weeks or so, my AP app on iPad (latest iOS) fas began freezing at various spots. My guess would be a certain ad is interfering. And further scrolling ceases as does use of the various options for content buttons. Even soft reboots doesn’t unfreeze. Means 2 /3 content unavailable.

  • Apple News1star· Sep 16, 2026

Page jumps — Some ads disappear while you’re reading, causing the article to jump several paragraphs. Very annoying.

  • Ground News2star· Sep 15, 2026

Pay to read — I think it’s a great idea. You can get all the information in one platform, however I don’t think you should have to pay for more high topic stories that you want to know about sure the algorithms might show me right leaning or left leaning stories or ads, on other platforms but at least they’re free

Who’s in it

All 15 apps counted in this market · 2026-09-14.

Apps count as part of a market for 90 days after they last appear in it. Installs are Google Play's own count, last captured 2026-09-14. 14 of 15 apps have an Android listing we could match. A dash means we could not pair the two stores, not that the app is absent from Play.

How this is counted

Every number is arithmetic over the reviews we hold, re-counted weekly: nothing modelled, nothing scored. Themes come from a frozen pattern classifier rather than a model reading reviews, so the same review always lands in the same bucket. A market rate is pooled across every app here; the store rate is the same count across 13,217 apps. A complaint is only called a gap when at least half the market carries it, at least 20 reviews are behind it, and the market’s rate is elevated above the store’s, the same cutoff used everywhere on this site, because a problem concentrated in one app is that app’s bug, and a problem every app on the store shares is nobody’s gap. This market has no full report yet, so the per-app notes are absent rather than estimated. The anger axis is counted either way: mean star of the reviews carrying each theme, from the same classifier as the counts above.
