  • Interval Timer □ HIIT Timer1star· Sep 12, 2026

Bait and bill — The underlying functionality is meh. Setting up a workout for the first time is a bit confusing and not super intuitive. But more than that the big problem I have is that it simply wouldn’t work past the first week (or about 3-4 workouts for me) without a subscription. This app wasn’t advertised as a “free trial”, but that’s what it is. I don’t have a problem with devs getting paid

  • Interval Timer1star· Sep 9, 2026

Not a free app — App looks free then you have to pay $35 for a timer…

  • Interval Timer □ HIIT Timer2star· Sep 7, 2026

Works once — Works one time, then they ask for a review and when you go to reset they won’t let you unless you sign up for a subscription

  • Interval Timer - Tabata Timer1star· Aug 19, 2026

What premium — I paid $9.99 for the premium account and it still opens the pop up selling me the premium features every time I open. It’s like the upgrade didn’t take to my app even though they charged me for it. I tried to contact support for help but haven’t heard back in weeks

  • Timer Plus - Workouts Timer2star· Aug 18, 2026

Ads — Was good. Now they want to advertise to me and have now asked for personal data.

  • Simple Interval Timer1star· Aug 14, 2026

giant obnoxious banner asking to stalk you — this app could be vibe coded but it demands that you give it permission to stalk you to “give you better ads”

Who’s in it

All 11 apps counted in this market · 2026-09-21.

Interval Timer is the biggest app here that has stopped shipping. Last update 15 months ago, at 12,030,409 installs.

Apps count as part of a market for 90 days after they last appear in it. Installs are Google Play's own count, last captured 2026-09-21. 6 of 11 apps have an Android listing we could match. A dash means we could not pair the two stores, not that the app is absent from Play. Amber marks an app that has not shipped in over 90 days, the 90th percentile across every market we hold.

What do users complain about most in interval timer apps?

1. Billing: in 10 of 11 apps, 43.5% of negative reviews; 2. Ads: in 7 of 11 apps, 14.1% of negative reviews. Counted from 830 negative reviews on the 2026-09-21 snapshot, never estimated.

How this is counted

Every number is arithmetic over the reviews we hold, re-counted weekly: nothing modelled, nothing scored. Themes come from a frozen pattern classifier rather than a model reading reviews, so the same review always lands in the same bucket. A market rate is pooled across every app here; the store rate is the same count across 13,514 apps. A complaint is only called a gap when at least half the market carries it, at least 20 reviews are behind it, and the market’s rate is elevated above the store’s, the same cutoff used everywhere on this site, because a problem concentrated in one app is that app’s bug, and a problem every app on the store shares is nobody’s gap.
