How this is scored

Weighted mean of the sub-scores, weights re-normalized over whatever is computable (nobody's fixed it 25 · how far above typical 20 · how angry 15 · people in the market 15 · room to enter 15 · willingness to pay 10). Fixed anchors map each count to 0–100: breadth and willingness-to-pay are straight shares; the gap’s heat tops out at 4times the store’s typical rate; anger scores star3 as 0 and star1.5 as 100; reach runs 104 to 107ratings on a log scale; room to enter is one minus the leader’s share of shelf ratings. A factor that cannot be counted is dropped and named — never imputed. The site’s one composite (#115, owner decision 2026-08-15); cited industry benchmarks are never blended in.

  • Core feature locked behind the paywall10 of 89
It’s a cash grab, unavoidable paywall. — You have to start a free trial then cancel it before it charges you to use their free features??? No website should make you start a free trial then cancel it just to use the app. The app owners are using ai generated responses and will reply something so vague like “we’re sorry to hear that but..” constant mentions of their premium. Don’t fall for this appPillow: Sleep Tracker · 1star · Aug 13, 2026
almost everything is behind a paywall now — i’ve used this app for about a year and have loved it. i felt like i was waking up much easier when i used it for sleep and i liked that i could track sleep sounds because of concerns of sleep apnea. i just went to LISTEN to a sleep sound from last night and you can’t even listen to them unless you pay for a subscription now. almost all of the features iSleep Cycle - Tracker & Sounds · 1star · Aug 6, 2026
Worse every update — I’ve been using this app since it was on iPhone 3. I’ve paid for a subscription for years, and they keep updating it and moving features further behind the paywall. Now it wont even play sounds unless you pay 60$ a year. And my subscription that ends next April doesn’t play sounds anymore. Stop being greedy.Sleep Cycle - Tracker & Sounds · 2star · Aug 4, 2026

Terrible app — App is a scam do not buyRISE: Sleep Tracker · 1star · Aug 15, 2026
Great ideas, poorly implemented — This app costs little compared to the others since it’s one fee and no subscriptions. But the UI makes it difficult to add sleep times if you forget to wear your watch (it takes 6 steps to get to where you add the time manually). It does not synch with the Apple Sleep but it detects the sleep by itself and it ignores any Apple Sleep changes. The sleep apnea featuAutoSleep: Watch Sleep Tracker · 1star · Aug 15, 2026
Low accuracy for sleep — Was disappointed this app is so inaccurate with my sleep. It will state I’ve only slept a few hours when the Apple app says 8+. This inaccuracy ruined this expensive app experience. I’ll be uninstalling and just recommending the Apple tools.AutoSleep: Watch Sleep Tracker · 2star · Aug 14, 2026

Does not save data — I tried the free version of this app over the past month and it only saved my data maybe 20% of the time. I would select “wake up” and go to listen to my sleep recordings and when I hit the arrow to return to the main page, it would reset and my whole previous nights data would be erased. It also was not very accurate as it would record that I was asleep at certain times whenShutEye®: Sleep Tracker, Sound · 1star · Aug 15, 2026

Doesn’t work — Doesn’t do a good job tracking. I usually lie in bed on my phone for about a hour before sleeping, wake up early and check my phone a few minutes, then go back to bed for another hour or two. It doesn’t keep track of any of that so it doesn’t give me a good sleep schedule. I wish it did work like the ads, sounds cool.RISE: Sleep Tracker · 1star · Aug 11, 2026

Doesn’t track my sleep at all — This app is not for night workers. It will not let me set my bedtime to 7am. It tracks that I’m sleeping at night when I am working, giving me wildly off results for my “sleep” and telling me that I’ve slept for 14 hours most days. The app is not intuitive and makes little sense when you think that the earliest someone might sleep is 2pm.AutoSleep: Watch Sleep Tracker · 1star · Jul 31, 2026
Potential but not there — I did the intake and saw the interface there is potential for the app. However a biggest issue I had is that I could not update live data into how I was feeling to adjust my sleep pattern. Maybe my afternoon dip started and lasted from a different range of time. Or maybe I work up early but then went back to sleep there wasn’t ways to add those entry points then the sleepRISE: Sleep Tracker · 3star · Jul 16, 2026

How this is counted

Every number is arithmetic over the reviews we hold, re-counted weekly — nothing modelled, nothing scored. Themes come from a frozen pattern classifier rather than a model reading reviews, so the same review always lands in the same bucket. A shelf rate is pooled across every app here; the store rate is the same count across 12,122 apps. A complaint is only called a gap when at least half the shelf carries it and at least 20 reviews are behind it — a problem concentrated in one app is that app’s bug.
